Visiting Ireland: Mount Juliet in County Kilkenny

Autumn has settled into some very pretty colours at the moment. And I feel like it is only starting as the hues in the trees are changing day after day.

Now that we live in Kilkenny, we are only a short drive from Mount Juliet Estate. It is a really beautiful place for a Sunday afternoon walk. There is a lovely range of trees and flowers so it is not only great for a walk but also for some nature photography.

We went there with a friend last week on a chilly Autumn afternoon after brunch. We were lucky to spot some beautiful Autumn crocuses at the bottom of a tree and a few elderberries that looked like perfect little black beads.

And one of my favourite things to do there after a walk in the cold is to head inside the gorgeous main house and order cream teas while sitting in very comfortable couches and armchairs. Cream tea there consists of a choice of teas by Solaris Tea (I always choose jasmine green tea), a plate with delicious little biscuits and the most wonderful warm scone served with clotted cream and jam. That, my friends, is what I call an autumnal Sunday afternoon well spent!
